The Workshop

You’ll begin with a round MDF board fitted with LED strip lights along its edges, the base of your moon lamp. First, paint the surface and sides black to form a dramatic night-sky backdrop. Then, layer kneaded wall putty across the board with your hands, creating the base of the moon’s surface. Wearing gloves, you’ll pat and shape the semi-wet putty to build texture, and press with the edges of disposable cups to form realistic craters. More putty is added to refine the look, revealing a beautifully rugged lunar landscape that glows once illuminated.
